NFL Scout: Kool-Aid McKinstry Silenced Doubts with Performance at Alabama Pro Day

After Alabama cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry didn’t run at the NFL Scouting Combine due to a Jones fracture in his right foot, there were questions about his speed and that injury.
But McKinstry was able to test at his Alabama pro day, running a 40-yard dash between 4.47 and 4.52 seconds while posting a 34.5-inch vertical leap and a 10’1″ broad jump.

“Him going out there and competing despite the injury says a lot about his want-to and competitive desire to attack those question marks that were out there about him,” an NFC area scout told ESPN’s Jordan Reid.
McKinstry is widely expected to be a first-round pick, with the B/R NFL Scouting Department comparing him to Marshon Lattimore and calling him a “top cornerback in this year’s class” who has the “skill set to play in multiple schemes in the NFL” and who should “be a starter early in his career.”
He impressed on tape, and now he’s impressed in his testing and with his desire to fight through an injury to work out for NFL teams. His first-round status seems solidified at this point.
