It took Draymond Green less than four minutes to pick up a pair of technical fouls and get himself ejected in a crucial matchup against the Orlando Magic as the Golden State Warriors fight for their postseason lives.
Luckily for Green, the Warriors still pulled out a 101-93 win without him. But after the game, head coach Steve Kerr noted simply that Green earned his ejection:
And Curryāwho appeared visibly frustrated with the situation during the gameāsaid Green needs to find a way to stay on the court.
“All I’ll say is we need him. He knows that. We all know that,” he said. “So whatever it takes for him to be on the floor and available, that’s what’s gotta happen. Especially at this part of the year. Tough way to start the game, but I am extremely proud of every single person that stepped foot on the floor tonight and responded the way that they did.”
Green’s availability has been a major issue this season, as the volatile forward missed 17 games due to a pair of suspensions. He remains a key defensive and playmaking figure for the Warriors (38-34), which currently hold a 1.5-game lead over the Houston Rockets (36-35) for the final Play-In Tournament berth, but his unreliability this season has been a major issue.
